The team Pathogenesis of Coccidiosis (PaCo) has been created in 2010. It regroups 3 researchers (2CR1 and 1CR2) and one technician (1AI) whose goals are to determine the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in the interaction between parasites from the genus Eimeria and their host, the chicken. Eimeria invade and multiply within the epithelial cells of the chicken intestines and are responsible for coccidiosis, infectious diseases which cause dramatic economic losses in the poultry industry. The main research projects will use multidisciplinary approaches to characterize proteins expressed by Eimeria and involved in host cell invasion and parasite dissemination (role of proteases and refractile body proteins) as well as epithelial cell signalling pathway manipulation by intracellular parasites. The data obtained may be valuable to design new anticoccidial strategies. Réduire
